AUDE’s strategic review. Your opportunity to shape the future of the association

04 November 2024      Richard Ralph, AUDE Projects and Engagement Officer

Once every few years there is a specific opportunity to shape the AUDE path, as we work to develop a new strategy for the association. And the current task is to feed into that development process via an online survey which will be open for member response between today and 30 November.

This is your association.

And that means your views are not just welcome but essential in scoping and planning for the coming years. Please use the opportunity to comment.

If we take a look back to 2021 to the last similar point in time, we can look at the strategy that we developed then which was intended to cover the period 22-25, and reflect on how successfully we have done what we wanted to do. We can see strategic themes each with objectives and measurement, and a roadmap taking in the ideas of sustainability, innovation and evolution, efficiency, and professional development, all woven together by a common thread of EDI and wellbeing. What more should we have done to meet those aims? Your views on what we have achieved in the recent past might well feed into your ideas of what we should do in the near future.

If we look at our activities this term we can see many matches to the existing strategy. We’ve published our Guide to Decarbonisation, and our Legacy Buildings Guide. Before Christmas these will be joined by our Neurodiversity Design Guide, and a report on the experiences of women leaders in estates. We’ve run our first ever Showcase event, a great professional development opportunity for many members that had perhaps not deeply engaged with the association in the past. We hope we are living up to your expectations with our outputs this term, and every term.

So, to focus on the task now. Your comments in the survey I am sharing will help the development of the association for the period 2026-29. They are a vital input. You have until 30 November to complete the survey, with my sincere thanks.

Best wishes.
AUDE.
