Congratulations to Ann Allen MBE

15 January 2019      Martin Higgs, Communications Officer

We were delighted to hear the news that Ann Allen, Executive Director of Estates and Commercial Services at the University of Glasgow, was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours List, for services to higher education.

Ann Allen joined the University of Glasgow in 2012. On hearing of the award she said: “I am both surprised and humbled by this award. I believe what we are achieving at University of Glasgow’s Gilmorehill campus is truly transformational, both in the masterplan and the way we are trying to deliver it. The Estates Directorate is there to support all the amazing work of our students and researchers and that is where the recognition should be. Whilst I get the honour, it should actually be for the whole Directorate as due recognition to the incredible estates team that is contributing so much to the success of the University.”

We think Ann is being too modest. Not only does she do great work for Glasgow, not only does she do great work for SAUDE/AUDE, but she is involved in Construction Scotland, Women in Property, and acts as a trustee of the Museum of Scotland. Congratulations due on all these scores!
