Space Management Group - website review

10 May 2018      Martin Higgs, Communications Officer

The UK Higher Education Space Management Group (SMG) was set up in 2002 to assist higher education institutions implement best practice in the management of space. Until recently managed by HEFCE, the SMG website at www.smg.ac.uk will be managed in the future by AUDE – the site has been gifted to us by HEFCE as they no longer have the remit to oversee it. We have conducted research into the use of the website and there is still a steady flow of traffic to the site despite no formal awareness raising of its existence. In a survey of its users, most found value in the tools provided although noted they were dated.

On 25th May we are holding a meeting (London, 10am to 12 noon) to begin the process of reviewing the website’s content and ensuring it provides maximum value to our members for the long term. We aim to set up a cross-sector working group and representatives from AUDE, BUFDG, HESPA (strategic planners) UCSIA, HESMG (space managers group) are being sought. From this meeting a chair will be recruited to enable the work to form an AUDE special interest group, the chair having a seat on the AUDE executive.

The group’s first task is to review content, so that we can update, archive or delete as appropriate. We would like your help in this process. If you are interested in nominating yourself or a member of your team onto the working group please contact me on the details given below.
