The Mayor of London’s Energy Efficiency Fund (MEEF) is a £500 million investment fund launched to address market failures in London’s low carbon sectors. It provides flexible and competitive long-term loans of up to 19 years to Higher and Further Education institutions.
MEEF can invest in Energy Efficiency, Decentralised Energy, Energy Storage, Electrical Vehicle Charging Infrastructure and Small-Scale Renewables (up to 5 MW). More than 70% of the fund is directed at the public sector and up to 30% of the fund can support SME’s. The typical investment size for MEEF is between £3 million to £20 million, but the fund will consider projects from £1 million. For more info, drop MEEF an email, or visit the website.
MEEF is limited to Greater London, but there are further schemes providing competitive finance across the country for low carbon measures. These include the Scottish Partnerships for Urban Regeneration in Scotland, the Greater Manchester Low Carbon Investment Fund and the Heat Networks Investment Project that can fund district heating projects in England and Wales.
