Course overview

This masterclass works well as a follow up to the colourful behaviour – personal effectiveness workshop. It is ideal for those managing others or dealing with internal and external clients and suppliers. Focusing on the need to be competent at effective communication, this interactive day is designed to encourage you to think about the challenging situations you deal with on a day to day basis and how to get a real understanding of other’s needs, get buy-in and develop your people. You will be encouraged to share challenges you face with colleagues, clients and suppliers, and to explore ways to adapt communication styles to improve outcomes.

Course content

  • Underlying messages – building awareness to enhance our impact in communication
  • Effective listening – are you really listening?
  • Question types – are you asking the right questions?
  • Question techniques – an introduction to the Papillon du Bois unique communication tool
  • Getting “buy-in” – helping people come to their own solutions
  • Practical application – work in groups and pairs to help consolidate the learning


This masterclass will be led by either Rob Hunt or Sarah Player from Papillon du Bois Ltd. They work regularly with many UK universities and organisations from the construction, legal, communication, oil and gas, marketing, waste management, financial and retail sectors. Rob Hunt (FInstSMM FCIM FCMI), managing director, has worked in the communications industry for the last thirty years and has operated as a senior manager or director for sales, marketing and training for Royal Mail (RoMEC), Alcatel and Mars. Sarah Player (PG Cert Bus Admin, BA Hons, ILP) sales director and trainer, is passionate about people, communication and creativity. She has broad experience in people management, customer service, sales, and quality and customer focused training. She has worked in event
management, retail and most recently in the print industry as business development manager and regional director.
