Session 11: Disability inclusion in action

Time: 12pm - 1pm

 “Nothing about Us without Us”. This webinar will look at the reality of disability representation and inclusion in society and the workplace, with a critical lens of the need for more action led allyship for all types of disabilities, differences and impairments. How can we as allies listen more, amplify the voices of those with lived experience and take tangible steps to fostering disability inclusive environments?
Using real life examples this webinar will explore the real impact of excluding disabled people and how society can and should change perceptions and assumptions of those with disabilities and impairments.

In this session, we will explore:

  • Language and terminology around disability and impairments.
  • The medical and social models of disability.
  • Representation and ability bias in society.
  • Structural, environmental and team considerations for supporting disability inclusion.
  • True disability allyship – a look at what we can do to encourage, champion and foster inclusion in the workplace.
