The cost of Net Zero. Outcomes from a project exploring the costs of Net Zero for Higher and Further Education in the United Kingdom.
For the Higher and Further Education sector to transition to Net Zero, it is estimated that it will cost a total of £43.8 bn. This is made up of a total of £37.1 bn to decarbonise the Higher Education sector and £6.7 bn to decarbonise the Further Education Sector.
As part of this project, we have produced a calculator for institutions to project their spend and emissions at a strategic level and provide an estimate of what it will cost to reach Net Zero.
