AUDE Big Conversation Host

Christian is a lead real estate education lawyer helping with the property needs of a range of education clients from the higher, further, academies, studio schools and university technical colleges sector.

His experience of over 21 years extends to the full range of property and real estate work for HEIs.

He is also the main lead and co-ordinator of our multi-disciplinary property, disputes and constructions teams

 Plenary Speaker

Amanda is a Stirling Prize winner and founder of the architects AL_A. She was awarded CBE for services to architecture, received the Jane Drew Prize, elected an Honorary Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and was recently made a Royal Academician. Amanda is a trustee of the V&A, a regular radio and TV broadcaster, she writes for a number of publications and lectures around the world and is an internationally recognised cultural commentator.

Workshop Speakers 

Aida Berhamovic, Director of Estates, is responsible for the delivery of all capital development, estate facilities, property, and sustainability management at the Royal College of Music.

Aida joined the RCM in 2017 after managing the Heathrow Expansion programme, with a wealth of experience advising high-profile clients on business-focused strategic estate planning and delivery of customer-focused facilities and services.

As a leader in corporate real estate, she has worked within established consultancy practices and client-side organisations, managing the estates and design of a range of complex projects in the UK and overseas.

Aida is a chartered architect, a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects, and holds a Master of Arts from Central Saint Martin’s College of Arts and Design. She was awarded Honorary Membership of the Royal College of Music in 2022 and is a trustee of the EAUC, The Alliance for Sustainability Leadership in Education.

 

Ann is the Director of Innovation and Campus Development at the University of Leeds. Ann’s professional background is in asset management and construction and has worked for over 40 years across a diverse number of organisations including central government, banking, and retail as well as working in Higher Education.

Ann is Chair of Architecture Design Scotland and the Built Environment Trust. She is a Board member of the Crown Estate Scotland and Water Industry Commission for Scotland and Trustee of the National Museum of Scotland. She is a strong advocate for diversity in property and construction and a previous Chair of the Scottish Board of Women in Property.

 

 

As Head of Campus Planning Paul has been very involved in all phases of the development of a new city centre campus for TU Dublin. This major urban regeneration project is being delivered in partnership with the bespoke statutory Grangegorman Development Agency. The campus is now home to c 10,000 students and 1,000 staff, with further developments in train.

To date over 80,000m2 of space have been developed encompassing new build and renovation, including the adaptive reuse of a 1980s office block (the focus of this presentation). Since the formation of Technological University Dublin in 2019, involving the merger of three organisations, Paul has also been involved in capital developments across all the TU campus locations.

 

 

Mike has over 25 years' of experience in the higher education sector and is currently the Director of Campus Infrastructure at Trinity College Dublin, where he oversees the planning, development, and management of the university's physical assets and facilities

He is passionate about creating and maintaining innovative, inclusive, and resilient campus environments that support the academic mission and vision of the institutions he works with

Mike teams’ have overseen the refurbishment of the Cockcroft Building at the University of Brighton, a great example of 1960’s education buildings and the renovation of the 322-year-old Rubrics Building, the oldest surviving building within the grounds of Trinity College Dublin

He is also a past Chair of AUDE and the recipient of the 2023 AUDE Chair’s Award for Long-term Contribution in recognition of his service to the association and also the HE sector.
